The mountains of the Pyrenees stretch from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Mediterranean Sea in the east. They form an awe-inspiring natural border between France and Spain and are an ideal destination for anybody needing a dose of activity on their trip to France.
Come summer or winter, the possibilities for an active break in the Pyrenees are endless. Our favourite area is the very accessible central Pyrenees, where the climate is a winning combination of the Atlantic and Mediterranean. Not too dry, not too wet, not too hot, not too cold.
There are so many things that we love about the Pyrenees mountains. Unlike their bigger brother the Alps, they remain relatively unspoiled and have retained a charming authenticity all of their own. With Spain ‘just next door’, there’s a fascinating melting pot of cultures, traditions and even language in this part of France which we will help you to experience.
The wildlife is exceptional in the Pyrenees. There’s a growing population of brown bears and you’re likely to see chamois, ibex and countless birds of prey if you venture up into the mountains.
